Coffee is lonely without cups. I am lonely without you.

{January 15, 2009}   58℃ coffee web site design

This is my first time to design my own web site, I choose coffee for topic and gave a name called 58 coffee.

In my coffe web site, there are include 58 product, about coffee, 58 store, community board and 58 card. When you open the home page, you can listen to the background music, it is classic music and fit to our theme- coffee. Each link can go back to home page and other links, thus it is very easy to customer to look through our web site. In latest news part, reader can know our newest news at the first time and communicate with us.

During this process, I used dreamweaver, it is a powerful tool for web design, and I will carry on and update my web site in the future.

{January 3, 2009}   What Is Web 2.0

Within 15 years the Web has grown from a group work tool for scientists at CERN into a global information space with more than a billion users. Currently, it is both returning to its roots as a read/write tool and also entering a new, more social and participatory phase. These trends have led to a feeling that the Web is entering a ‘second phase’—a new, ‘improved’ Web version 2.0. Media coverage of Web 2.0 concentrates on the common applications/services such as blogs, video sharing, social networking and podcasting—a more socially connected Web in which people can contribute as much as they can consume.

The term ‘Web 2.0’ was officially coined in 2004 by Dale Dougherty, a vice-president of O’Reilly Media Inc. (the company famous for its technology-related conferences and high quality books) during a team discussion on a potential future conference about the Web (O’Reilly, 2005a). The team wanted to capture the feeling that despite the dot-com boom and subsequent bust, the Web was ‘more important than ever, with exciting new applications and sites popping up with surprising regularity’ (O’Reilly, 2005a, p. 1). It was also noted, at the same meeting, that companies that had survived the dot-com firestorms of the late 90s now appeared to be stronger and have a number of things in common. Thus it is important to note that the term was not coined in an attempt to capture the essence of an identified group of technologies, but an attempt to capture something far more amorphous.

In our initial brainstorming, we formulated our sense of Web 2.0 by example:
Web 1.0 Web 2.0
DoubleClick –> Google AdSense
Ofoto –> Flickr
Akamai –> BitTorrent
mp3.com –> Napster
Britannica Online –> Wikipedia
personal websites –> blogging
evite –> upcoming.org and EVDB
domain name speculation –> search engine optimization
page views –> cost per click
screen scraping –> web services
publishing –> participation
content management systems –> wikis
directories (taxonomy) –> tagging (“folksonomy”)
stickiness –> syndication
The list went on and on.

The World Wide Web has become one of the most important information resources today. Web pages are designed for visual browsing by human users. However, information on the web is also accessed by computer applications and specialized browsing devices. These computer applications and devices need to retrieve, filter, process, index, and present information on the web in sophisticated ways, not just simply rendering web pages like a conventional browser.

In order to facilitate the information filtering and processing of these computer applications and devices, it is desirable to include semantic knowledge into the processing of web pages. Thus it is necessary to determine the logical structure of web pages, i.e. information regions on the web pages and their inter-relationships.

In this part, I would like to talk about logical structure and physical structure in website design. Physical : Because of you can see the entites being physically present for example as Operating System.

Logical : The logical entites exist but you can not see them physically as such, extents, tablespaces all exist but not as the real physical structures .They are not real structures in physical sense, we combine certain structures and logically make them.

A tablespace can consist of one or more datafiles, you can see the datafiles but not the tablespace. Its existence is logica. Similarly extents , you can not see them, it is a concept a logical view – they are just contiguous blocks, you do not seem them physically. So they do not exist in a way that you see real physical structures , their presence is just logical.

{November 26, 2008}   What is Dreamweaver?

Dreamweaver is software used for designing and building Web pages. It is very good software and it is made by Macromedia. It is very good software for the designing and development and it is commonly used everywhere nowadays. It is a html editor for designing, coding, developing Web pages and web applications. It provides the hand-coding html and visual editing environment to the users. It is very helpful tool to create static and dynamic web Pages.
The convenience it gives to customer is that you can use it for making WebPages without writing the code of lines due to its visual editing environment. It helps you to make dynamic database web applications using server language such as Active Server Pages, Cold fusion markup language and JavaScript. It is very good for the people who have created html pages but never use Dreamweaver.

It gives the customer complete user guide for creating the web pages. You can draw tables, add colors to it, make interactive flash buttons and insert picture very easily by using the Dreamweaver. Any one who knows to make static web pages and like to make data driven website he can use Dreamweaver tutorial to learn and build dynamic web pages.

{November 5, 2008}   Government in the United States

As James Madison once said that “If men were angels, no government would be necessary”, the role of government is to adjust the continually tipping balance between liberty and order.  The United States of America is a federal constitutional republic with a government regulated by a system of checks and balances defined by the United States Constitution.

The Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation, which were in effect from 1781 to 1789.  Moreover, the delegates had to deal with two main fears in writing the Constitution.  First of all, they wanted to ensure that no individual or small group in the government would become too powerful.  In order to avoid tyranny, it was decided that the central government should be broken into three separate but interdependent branches through the “checks and balances”, and that each of the branches would have equal power to limit the powers of the others.  Secondly, they should avoid weakening the power of the state governments.  Thus, both the national and state governments are granted certain exclusive powers and share other powers.  In 1791, to protect the rights of individuals, a “Bill of Rights”, ten Amendments to the original Constitution, was added to the Constitution.

The federal government consists of three branches: the executive, legislative, and judicial.  The executive branch of Government enforces and carries out the laws.  The President is the head of state and head of government, as well as the military commander-in-chief and chief diplomat.  He plays a significant role in making laws, who can veto a bill.  He not only has important legislative and judicial powers, but also has powers to manage national and foreign affairs.

The President, along with the Vice-President, is the only official elected by the entire country.  Besides, he must be at least 35 years old, a natural-born U.S. citizen and have lived in the U.S. for at least 14 years.  A new president serves a term of four years and may be re-elected only once.

The legislative branch of government is the law-making branch comprising the Congress.  Congress is bicameral, which is made up of two chambers, the Senate and the House of Representatives.  The House of Representatives consists of 435 members based on the population of each state, each of whom represents a congressional district and serves for a two-year term.  In contrast, there are a total of 100 senators, who serve six-year terms.  And each state has two Senators, regardless of population.  The duty of the Congress is to pass bills, decide on federal taxes, declare wars, and approve treaties.

The third branch of the federal government, the judiciary, interprets laws passed by Congress and signed by the President.  It is consisted of the Supreme Court and lower federal courts, whose judges are appointed by the president with Senate approval.  The Supreme Court was established in the Constitution as the highest court in the nation to decide cases that raise questions of constitutional interpretation.

State and local government are of vital importance, which refer to a variety of areas in people’s daily life, such as births, deaths, marriages, property transfers, crime and arrest statistics, and education, as Jefferson once claimed that the state government was closer to the people and thus more democratic.

Today, there are two major political parties in the United States, which are the Democratic Party and the Republican Party.  The Democratic Party is considered more liberal because of its focus on some programs, like Social Security, while the Republican Party is more conservative to put emphasis on private enterprise.

On the whole, the government in the United States is unique in the Separation of the Powers in the world, resulting in its success in various aspects.  In addition, it is a great example for other countries throughout the world to learn from.

{November 2, 2008}   The Middle Eastern Bazaar

The Middle Eastern bazaar takes you back to ancient times.  Entering a Gothic-arched gateway, you can pass the open square to an endless dark cavern. Donkeys with tinkling bells weaved in and out of the crowds.  You can buy all kinds of goods on the roadway.  Additionally, various people always make continuous noise.

The deeper you go into the bazaar, the smaller noise you hear.  The cloth-market is very quiet.  The earthen floor, walls, and roof abate the noise, so that shopkeepers and buyers lower their voices to fit the circumstance.

It’s special that shopkeepers sell the same kind of goods in the same area to avoid competition.  Meanwhile, it’s easier for the customers to find the goods, and difficult for them to be cheated.

The buyers not let the shopkeepers guess what they really want to buy until the last minute.  However, the sellers try to convince the buyers that they sell goods at cost.

In the impressive coppersmiths market, you can hear a mixed sound of tinkling and banging.  Some young apprentices work in each shop, while the shop owners instruct.

There are not only gorgeous pots and bowels, but also some simple and functional kitchenware.

You can find varieties of beautiful and special designs in the carpet-market.  Furthermore, several markets like spice-market and dye-market offer people numerous choices with their own features.  Moreover, we can see camels carrying greatly merchandise in the desert.

Besides, there is an unforgettable place where people make linseed oil.  In a large and old cavern are three stone wheels, each with an axle.  A blind-folded camel walks in a circle to turn the stone wheel.  Then the stone wheel crushes linseed to a pulp for later use.

Beams, ropes, and pulleys do the pressing of the linseed pulp to extract the oil.  A person can operate the machine only by shoveling the pulp into a vat, fastening ropes, and setting the ropes and pulleys in motion.  There is a blend of creaks, squeaking, and occasional grunts and signs of the camels.

New Zealand is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy.  The British monarch Queen ElizabethⅡis the Head of State of New Zealand, and her representative is the Governor-General.

The single chamber of Parliament is the House of Representatives based on the Westminster system whom mainly in charge of passing laws and approving the raising and spending of money by the government.

There are 120 elected Members of Parliament, which include six Maori MPs representing Maori voters only. Besides, citizens of Maori heritage can register on either the Maori or the General roll of electors.  Every citizen or permanent resident from the age of 18 must enroll to vote, and has the right to vote in the election held every three years.

There are two main parties in the House of Representatives that are the Labor Party and the National Party.  The Prime Minister is the head of government.

The previous voting structure was that each voter had only one vote for the Member of Parliament.  After a national referendum in 1993, there was a change that under MMPR each voter has two votes, an electorate vote, and a party vote.  The second vote helps decide how many seats each party gets in parliament. The party held a majority of seats forms the government.  Moreover, some other parties like the Green Party and the Maori Party have the opportunity to gain seats.  Since 1996, the government has been a coalition of both the National Party and the Labor Party.

Cabinet is formed by ministers who are chosen by the Prime Minister to make policy decisions.  Furthermore, public servants remain in their positions whenever Ministers change.

The great reform of Government affairs has made the development more efficient.  In addition, the government privatized several activities, such as the national airline, the railways, and banking companies.  Also, trading departments and corporations became state-owned enterprises.

To fund their activities, local authorities have the power to collect rates. Three levels of local government, which are regional councils, territorial authorities, and community boards, have their own detailed tasks to do in daily life.

In New Zealand, children between the ages of 6 and 16 must receive education.  At primary and secondary school levels, there are state school, private school, and home school to choose from.

Crèches and kindergartens take babies and children from a few weeks old to four years old.  Besides, kohanga reo take Maori children and encourage them to speak Maori language.

Children usually start primary school from the age of five or six.  In some places, children between 11 and 13 attend an intermediate school as a preparation for secondary school.

Afterwards, children should enter high school.  Some are boarding school; some are co-educational, or single-sex.  Since 2002 the National Certificate of Educational Achievement has begun to work.

The Correspondence School is the largest school in New Zealand where students live very far away.  Teachers may visit families if it is possible.

Private schools are often religious and single-sex.  The biggest difference between private schools and states schools is students in private school should pay tuition for their education.

Disabled students can attend regular and special schools. The Correspondence School also takes this kind of students.

The nine universities throughout New Zealand have a number of subjects covering a variety of fields, like architecture, engineering, and horticulture.  Although a citizen or a permanent resident who is over 20 doesn’t pass the exams, he can still attend university.

Additionally, there are 23 polytechnics that are rich in their diversity of subjects.  Especially, the Open Polytechnic is the largest among them, in which students can choose different ways to study.

New Zealand is considered the world’s largest farm, which is mainly due to the hard work of the farmers, scientists, and exporters, but not the good geographical conditions, because all the plants, crops, and farmed animals are introduced from other countries.

The farmer plays a vital part in New Zealand’s economy, and New Zealand is now the leading role in agriculture research and advisory services all over the world.  The farming lands are about 173 hectares, and on average two people operate a farm.  The pastoral farming is the main land use.  However, various fruit and crops are planted for export.

Forestry and fishing industries are developing rapidly.  Forest products can make profit for overseas funds, while the seafood industry produces about five percentages of export earnings.

New Zealand is able to self-supporting in energy.  Electricity is provided by fast-flowing rivers, geothermal stream from the volcanic area, natural gas, and windmills.  Particularly, the solar powered houses are very popular.  Nevertheless, New Zealand imports some refined petrol from other countries.

Being accepted by the world’s market, New Zealand has been endeavoring to meet the demands of high quality and competitiveness.

More than half of the export earnings are produced by farming industry.  Apart from this, their focusing on the environmental and quality standard promotes the trade.  Moreover, some other natural resource industries, like the forestry and fishing industry, and the horticulture industry are growing fast.  Recently, the manufacturing is more competitive.  Further, New Zealand gradually becomes an international provider of services.  Also, tourism contributes a lot in earnings.

Nowadays, New Zealand has four major markets that are Australia, the European Union, Japan, and the United States.

The government supports the independence on trade, and the Ministry helps business by developing international trade rules and connections.

At present, the Northern Ireland is unquestionably a part of the United Kingdom.  Due to their best endeavors, Great Britain and Northern Ireland have made a concerted effort to be united eventually.  However, the progress was with great difficulty.

Several historical facts played an important role in obstructing integration of the nation.  From the late 1590s, Protestant settlers invaded and occupied Northern Ireland.  Besides, the whole island of Ireland had belonged to the UK until 1801.  Irish Catholics were treated so cruelly that aroused ingrained resentment from then on.

Irish had strong desire to try their best to be independent, but the results were far from satisfaction.  The Third Home Rule Bill was finally passed in 1914 after the previous two attempts were failed.  That is to say, Ireland received a measure of self-government.  Nevertheless it suspended temporarily for the First World War.  After that, the Easter Raising of 1916 against Britain broke out, in which the rebels resorted to military forces.  However, the rebellion was repressed five days later.  In 1921, the fourth and final Home Rule Bill partitioned Ireland into Northern Ireland with six countries in the northeast, and Southern Ireland with twenty-six countries in the south. Moreover, Northern Ireland remained a part of the UK, and Southern Ireland formed a ″free state″.  The minority of Catholics in Northern Ireland still suffered unfair treatment from the Protestants.

During the time of the Troubles, the Northern Irish had to offer British soldiers a chance to Northern Ireland to help restore order, and British soldiers have been there ever since 1969.  The IRA and the paramilitary groups fought with each other frequently, so that Catholics and Protestants formed their own areas separately in Northern Ireland.  Next, in 1973, Britain suspended Northern Irish parliament, and replaced it with ″direct-rule″ from London, for the reason that it was inefficiently.  That was the way that Britain made Northern Ireland was in control step by step.

Two significant events during the 1980s are the hunger strikers and the Anglo-Irish agreement.  When there is a loss, there is a gain.  In spite of the failure, the Anglo-Irish agreement served as a lubricant between the British and Irish governments. In 1993, both governments signed the Downing-Street Declaration, which was eventually to lead to the IRA ceasefire the following year.

A resolution on the status of Northern Ireland would have stopped the conflicts. Three separate attempts were made to draft an agreement, and the earlier two attempts were unsuccessful.  By the intervention of the United States Senator George Mitchell, the Good Friday Agreement was produced in consequence of multi-party negotiations on 10 April 1998.  Therefore, Northern Ireland was special in being governed by three separate jurisdictions: that of the Republic of Ireland, that of Great Britain, and that of its own elected executive government of ten ministers.  But for some reason, Northern Ireland is now once more run by the direct rule from London.  In short, this peaceful agreement is just a finishing touch.

Northern Ireland still needs to be improved in some ways.  On the whole, it was both Great Britain and Northern Ireland that have made a ″United″ Nation.

{October 22, 2008}   Desperate Houswives

Trust is a fragile thing. Once earned, it affords us tremendous freedom, but once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Of course the truth is, we never know who we can trust. Those who we are closest to can betray us, and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people choose to trust only themselves. It is the simplest way to keep from getting burned.

We are all searching for someone. That special person who provides us what is missing in our lives, someone who can offer companionship, or assistance, or security, or sometimes when we search very hard we can find someone who provides us with all three. Yes, we are all searching for someone, and if we can’t find them, we can only pray that they find us.

Death is inevitable. It’s a promise made to each of usat birth. But before that promise is kept, we all hope something will happen to us, whether it’s the thrill of romance, the joy of raising a family, or the anguish of great loss. We all hope to meet something that will make our lives meaningful. But the sad fact is, not all lives have meanings. Some people spend their time on this planet just sitting on the sidelines, waiting for something that happens to them, before it’s too late.

Sooner or later the time comes when we must all become responsible adults, and learn to give up what we want. So we can choose to do what is right. Of course, a life time of responsibility isn’t always easy, and as the years go on, it becomes a burden too heavy for some to bear. But still we try to do what is best, what is good. Not only for ourselves, but for those we love. Yes, sooner or later, we must all become responsible adults. No one knows this better than the young.

It is just impossible to grasp how powerful love is. It can sustain us through trying times, or motivate us to make extraordinary sacrifices. It can force the most decent man to commit the darkest deeds, or compel ordinary women to search for hidden truth. And long after we are gone, love remains, burned into our memories. Yes, we all searching for love, but someone of us when found it, wish hadn’t.

Yes, each day of suburbia brings it a new set of lies. The worst are the ones we tell ourselves before we go asleep. We whisper them in the dark, telling ourselves that we’re happy, or that he is happy; that we can change, or that he can change his mind. We persuade ourselves we can live with our sins, or that we can live without him… Yes, each night before we fall asleep, we lie to ourselves, in a desperate, desperate hope that comes morning, it will all be true.
We all honor heroes for some reasons, sometimes for their daring, sometimesfor their bravery, sometimes for their goodness. But mostly we honor heroes because at one point or another, we dream of being rescued. Of course, if the right hero doesn’t come along, sometimes we just have to rescue ourselves.

Yes, life is a journey, one that is much better traveled with a companion by our side. Of course, the companion could be just of anyone, a neighbor on the other side of the street, or the man on the other side of the bed. The companion could be a mother with good intentions, or a child who is up to no good. Still, despite our best intentions, some of us will lose our companion along the way, and then the journey becomes unbearable. You see, human beings are designed for many things, and loneliness isn’t one of them.

It’s an odd thing to look back on the world, to watch those I left behind. Each of her own way so brave, so determined and so very desperate. Desperate to venture out, but afraid of what she’ll miss when she goes. Desperate to get everything she wants, even when she was not exactly sure of what that is. Desperate for life to be perfect again, although she realized it never really was. Desperate for a better future, if she can find a way to escape her past. I not only watched, I cheered them on, these amazing women. I hope so much that they’ll find what they are looking for, but I know not all of them will. Sadly, that’s just not the way life works, not everyone gets a happy ending.
